Temporary closure of Sligo Central Library

The ceiling in the Central Library building in Stephen Street Sligo has sustained some structural damage over the weekend, resulting in the temporary closure of the Central Library and Local Studies library until such time as a structural assessment has been conducted under Sligo County Council’s health and safety procedures.

In the meantime, library members are welcome to return their books and items on loan to the Local Studies desk in the library building during Central Library’s regular opening hours. Unfortunately it will not be possible to issue books at present. As the Local Studies section is being utilised for discharging books, its normal services, research and computer access, will not be available.

The assessment of the building is currently underway, and once this process is complete, the appropriate remedial works can be undertaken. During this process the lending section of Central Library will remain closed. Once we get an indication that it is appropriate to reopen, the public will be advised.

Sligo Library members may use our branch libraries in Tubbercurry and Ballymote if that is suitable. Members can also use their user id and pin number to renew books on-line here

Sligo County Library regrets any inconvenience caused to our members by this temporary disruption to service.
