World War I Exhibition

An Exhibition entitled “News From the Past” commemorating the people of Sligo’s Involvement in World War 1 can be viewed at Sligo County Museum from 10th June to 28th September 2014. The exhibition will give the opportunity to visitors to view newspapers from the period, photos, letters, medals and other memorabilia from World War 1. For the first time the names of all the Sligo people who died in World War 1, including their address, rank, unit, place and date of death will be displayed. A book of condolence to their memory will be opened thus giving members of the public an opportunity to pay tribute to the people from Sligo who lost their lives in World War 1. This project has been funded by the Peace III Programme through the European Union’s European Regional Development Fund managed for the Special EU Programmes Body by Sligo County Council on behalf of Sligo Peace & Reconciliation Partnership Committee.
