Ballymote CBI bookclub

The Children’s Books Ireland Shadowing Scheme is a unique programme for schools and libraries, designed to encourage awareness and enjoyment of the CBI Ireland Book of the Year Awards.


6th Class Children from Scoil Muire Gan Smal, Ballymote participated and Bookclub meetings were held in Ballymote Community Library during April and May. The children and librarians read each of the books shortlisted for the Awards, using a specially devised activity pack to guide them in their reading. At the end of this process the children agreed on their favourite book and their vote was sent to CBI. The shadowing verdict followed by the official prize ceremony will take place at the end of May.
