The Feast of LĂșnasa: A lunchtime talk on Thursday 9th August by Brian Leyden on the gatherings, beliefs and rituals associated with this major feast day in the Celtic Year.



Brian Leyden is the author of the best selling memoir The Home Place, the novel Death and Plenty and the short story collection Departures. His work has featured on RTE’ Radio’s Sunday Miscellany and the Documentary on One . He was Writer in Residence with Sligo Libraries in 2010 and contributes a popular ‘Soapbox’ column to the The Sligo Champion.


Story Lab - The Summer Reading Challenge 2012 at Sligo Central Library



The summer reading challenge invites children aged 4- 11 years to read six books during the summer holidays.

It is free to participate, just enroll at Sligo Central Library to receive your pack.
There are stickers to collect along the way with a certificate and medal presented at the end.

The theme for 2012 is Story Lab - a five-sided hi-tech HQ that attracts stories from all over the world and sends them spinning throughout the city - and beyond!
